Bigger than titanic 

 

First destination 'SAVONA'.

 The captain of the ship is 'Francesco Schettino' he is an Italian man.

 It was 7:18 PM the Ship starts to Savona. 

 Only after 2 hours the ship was diverted from its route.

 It was not a mistake because captain Schettino wanted to take the ship to Giglio Island present in Italy.

 He wanted to present a wonderful lightning of ship to the public of Giglio island.

 When a ship floats very near to the land just like this it is called Sail Past / Sail By.

 Usually, big ships sail 7-8 kms far from island because ships need more deep land beneath the sea for more buoyant force to float.

 But due to this sail by ship was only 150 meters far from Island.

 Its clear there is no deep water there might be rocks or any other mountains which can hit the ship.

 It was also night and ship were moving very fast.

 Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transports said the same.

 There might be a question why Captain is doing all this.

 The thing was that Captain Schettino and Senior Captain Palombo were good friends and 

Palombo was living in Giglio Island.

 Captain Schettino called Palombo and said see out of the window towards the seashore this Sail Past is for you we want to give you a tribute.

 But Palombo was in Grossetto- (Time 9:40PM)

 The line dead's after saying this.

 After some time, loud sound came.

 A big rock has injured the ship for 70 m long in its sensitive part.

 This place was 100 meters far from Island.

 Third officer named Andrea Corsello was sleeping in his cabinet when this happened.

 After waking up due to this sound he saw that the hallway was submerged by water.

 He ran to engine room.

 The door was not opening.

 The engines were submerged under water.

 Some officers and Chief engineers tried to start emergency diesel generator, but it was unsuccessful. (Time - 9:52 PM).

 Chief engineer informs to Captain Schettino how bad the situation was. But captain simply announces that it is a blackout due to Power cut.

 Captain was moving ship into the sea.

 Its was around 10:50 PM when Captain Schettino realizes that if we sank it would be more dangerous in the middle of the sea better to go near to the Island.

 So, they took a U-Turn which made ship first tilt left and next right instead of straight.

 The ships crisis coordinator calls Captain twice once on 10:05PM and again on 10:07 PM. In the second call Captain acknowledges that there are some problems in Ship and if we admitted before it would be better.

 Turning away from the truth might be very dangerous.

 Captain admits his mistake.

 Now Captain tries to cover his mistakes by saying that the electricity gone due to accident. 

 Some passengers worried about that and call to Local Police.

 The coastal Guard called Schettino for asking 'what is happening on the ship passengers are contacting us?' Captain replies that 'This was due to Blackout nothing to worry we will inform you'.

 (Time - 10:22 PM) the captain gave orders to tell the coastguards that they had a collision on sensitive part of the ship. We need tugboats and life jackets are handed over to the passengers. None of us are injured.

 Afterwards a general alarm has been given to passengers.

 Passengers were instructed to assemble in the emergency assembly areas and wait for further instructions.

 Time was 10:48 PM the ship was tilted 30 degrees it was almost 1 hour after the crash.

 Finally, on 10:54PM Captain announced to abandon the ship.

 There were more than 4200 passengers present on ship and this ship was tilted 30 degrees. 

 There was only one reasonable decision he took and that was the U-Turn. But remaining all were unreasonable decision.

 After announcing to abandon the ship all the passengers were running towards the ship.

 One good thing was that some crew members know that something is going wrong in this ship. So, they started rebelling against the captain.

 Before 10 - 15 mins of announcement of captain only the passengers were sitting in the lifeboats preparedly.

 This ship was slowly falling right side of the ship.

 So, the people whose cabinets were on the right side were almost to the surface level of ocean, so they started jumping into ocean.

 But the real problem was to the people on other side was difficult because they were not able to find the way.

 There were some Indian crew members on the ship who helped a lot to passengers for saving their lives

 One of them was "Karnaatha Rameshana" was a security.

 Karnaatha had personally made a blind person to sit on a boat.

 

There was another Indian crew member present on that ship as a waiter named "Russell Rebello" He helped many passengers to get on the lifeboats he worked till his last breath.

 Russell Rebello gave his own life jacket to save on passenger.

 Russell was not able to survive.

 Captain Schettino was not at all taking care of Passengers and ran towards the lifeboat for saving his life,

 He was among the first crew member for reaching the Island.

 Giglio Island was a small Island where only 700 people leave. 

 Of course, many people saw what happened.

 The deputy mayor of the Island Mario Pilgrim has personally stepped into the lifeboat and helped many passengers also he went near to the ship as a civilian to help passengers.

 In this early evacuation almost 2500 - 3000 people were saved.

 The time was 11:38 PM almost 400 people were still on the ship.

 The Italian Coast Guard helicopters and fire rescues also reach the place and save the people.

 They saved 100 people.

 At 12:42 PM Coast Guard Commander Captain Gregordia De Falco calls Captain Schettino and says there are people trapped on the board. He angrily says that go back on to the ship with rope ladder and see how many passengers are remaining. He also says that " You might have been escaped from the ship but i will make you pay for this.

 Schettino starts saying excuses that he can't go.

 After all these conversations also, Schettino won't go back.

 But some brave crew members and some Coastal Guards worked for all the night. 

 Schettino was seeing all the play from a distance.

 The next day when sun rises and light falls on ship then people realized that its a very big accident.

 After getting a clarity on this accident local people living in Giglio Walk out for helping them.

 Many Temples. Churches and Canteens were opened so that the Survivors can get shelter.

 Blankets and Dry clothes were given to these people.

 But the rescue operation would continue more 2 - 3 weeks.

 Italian Navy, Coast Guard, Fire and rescue team everyone was involved in this.

 Rescue divers were also needed.

 On January 14 a South Korean couple have been rescued who were trapped under their cabins.

 This was the main reason for many deaths because they were not able to come out of their cabins due to water pressures.
